Developer fined for demolishing four historic Hamilton homes

Four significant heritage homes in historic inner city Hamilton were cleared from a 7,000 square metre site by the notorious Deen Brothers in 2007.

The developers were fined $500,000.

But is that enough ?

Ironic that the developers would not disclose to the courts how much money they will make on developing the land. One would think that the fine would simply be a blip on their profit sheets based on today's land values. Not even a slap on the wrist.

While fines being handed out it good news, it could also set a dangerous precendent of developers taking calculated risks on Brisbane's heritage.
